During senior showcase, I spoke to the University of Texas at Austin, TCU, Texas A&M, UTD, and UNT. I found the UT Austin recruiter's advice very helpful. At first, I did not know that I had to have 3D artwork, photographs, and a self portrait. The recruiter also informed me that I could do some assemblages for 3D artwork, and take a few photographs on my phone. At first, I thought that taking pictures on a phone was not a good idea, but then I found out that I could use photoshop on it. The recruiter also told me which pieces that I should put in my portfolio. I took advantage of her advice, and I put together all of the pieces for my portfolio during Thanksgiving Break.
When I talked to UNT, the recruiter also like every single one of my pieces. He noticed the mark making in my drawings, and he told me that I should consider taking printmaking at UNT. He stated that "[I] am a printmaker and [I] don't even know it yet." I found out that he was the head of the printmaking department at UNT, and that he taught the graduate printmaking classes. Although the recruiter suggested that I take an interest in printmaking, I do not think that I will create any prints. Printmaking is not something that I am very interested in. I will just continue to create even stronger marks in my pieces.
