My time at BTW

I feel that attending BTWHSPVA for high school has aided me in becoming a better artist, and that it has also prepared me for majoring in fine arts. When I recently checked the requirements for obtaining a BA in Fine Arts, I noticed that the four-year structure was similar to that of BTW's. I feel like I will be basically repeating everything that I have done in four years. One thing that will be different is that I have to take art discussion classes.

Over the last four years, I was able to learn the basic principles of Drawing and Design. When I attend USC in the fall, I will be required to take an introductory drawing, design, and sculpture course. (Which is similar to the set up of freshman year.) During my junior year , I will be taking advanced drawing and painting courses (which is similar to AP, but it is college, of course.) I feel that the past four years have given me an inside view of how my undergraduate years of college will be.

Attending BTW has greatly prepared me for college. The school teaches its students that they must be responsible for themselves, and that there is no excuse for having late assignments. I have learned throughout my senior year that there is no real limit to what a person can do for themselves. There are always resources that can assist a person. If you feel that you need help completing a task, you should take the initiative when trying to accomplish that task.

Q: Tunisian Collaborative Painting

I found the Tunisian collaborative paintings to be very interesting. Many of them turn out to be abstract, and imaginative rather than realistic and observational. What I do find strange is the fact that these paintings end up being in the same style. I would expect for certain areas to have different styles because of the large amount of people working on them. I wondered if the artists all agreed to leveling out the style once they were finished with the painting, or if the painting just turned out to be uniform. I would have also expected there to be a wide range of subjects included in the painting, but these paintings all have one subjects. Maybe the artists agreed on the subject, and experimented with the rest of the painting? Maybe they started with one idea and worked around it? Who knows.
